When you think of a living room, you want something cozy, something built for lounging but also looks good when guests visit. Look no further than Erin Marshall’s creation. Rich colors, plush fabrics, and spaces designed for lazy afternoons with family and friends (our kinda space). The best part? We’re going to give two people the chance to win a $250 IKEA gift card to refresh your living room. Read on to find out how to win.

First, we have to talk about the large and in charge coffee table, looking like it was freshly hauled out of the forest and placed into your living room. The rug beautifully marries the couch and table together with the muted tones. Tying this space together is the moody black wall with the stunning molding, which also serves as a DIY project (this room is filled with several)! With the deep, neutral tones, this space is arranged for a day of high-style relaxation.

But it’s not all moodiness and comfort in here. The full length mirror coupled with the Sputnik-esque light fixture provides much-needed reflection and airiness to this space to prevent it from feeling too much like a hibernation cave. The fun hanging chair also helps prevent this space from feeling too bogged down, adding a feel of whimsy to the oh-so-cozy reading nook. Erin’s tip to staying on a budget while not sacrificing style is to “use the books in your home you already have” to decorate the space so it also stays practical.

Like we hinted at earlier, this room is filled with DIYs to help keep the budget under control. The stained wood floating shelves and even the artwork can be easily created in an afternoon and helps give any space some fun and dimension.

Erin’s motto is to “live pretty on a penny” and she surely lives up to it, creating this ultra-luxurious space under budget. We gave each contestant in our design challenge a $2,000 budget to fully furnish a living room and Erin came in at $1,993.36!
