Inwood is a neighborhood at the very northernmost tip of Manhattan. It’s bounded by the Hudson River in the West and the Harlem River in both the North and East. In the South, it extends all the way to Fort Tryon Park, Dyckman Street, or Fairview Avenue, depending on who you’re talking to. Because of its geography and the architecture in the neighborhood, Inman can sometimes feel like a suburb tucked up against the rest of Manhattan. Washington Heights, on the other hand, feels very much like it’s a part of the borough of Manhattan, though it inhabits the same strip of land on the north end of the island as Inwood and Fort George.
