Chesterfield County is located near the Virginia state capital of Richmond in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The James River and the Appomattox River provide natural borders for the area, and the county seat is the Chesterfield Court House. In 2010 Chesterfield was named third for being the most populous county in Virginia, and the northern areas of Chesterfield are referred to as Metropolitan Richmond's South Side. Chesterfield is home to moderately-priced houses and neighborhoods that are cleanly built and maintained.

Chesterfield has an array of awards to its name, making it an attractive place to call home for many Virginians. In 2004 Chesterfield was named the 17th best place to live in America by the American City Business Journals, and in 2013 Chesterfield received nine achievement awards from the National Association of Counties. The Chesterfield Country Public Schools represents the local school system, which itself has received the U.S. Department of Education's Blue Ribbon Award. Communities located within Chesterfield include places like Bellwood, Courthouse, Manchester, Meadowbrook, Rockwood, and Woodlake, among many others. The area of Chesterfield had been settled by English explorers as early as 1607, with Chesterfield as it is now named coming into existence by 1749.

Chesterfield has grown exponentially since the second half of the 20th century. Chesterfield has acted primarily as a commuter town for nearby Richmond with many parkways, highways, and routes extending into its neighboring cities. The economy in Chesterfield itself is primarily industrial-based. 41 international companies have operations currently functioning in the county, including Amazon, Capital One, and Honeywell International. The top private employers in the area include DuPont, United Parcel Service, Walmart, CJW Medical Center, and Hill Phoenix. A popular resident and tourist attraction in Chesterfield is the Pocahontas Stake Park. This park features boating, camping, hiking, and picnicking with an additional Aquatics Center and a museum for Civilian Conservation Corps. The park boasts more than 80 miles of trails and three lakes, two of which offer fishing for bass and catfish. Other nationally protected areas include the Presquile National Wildlife Refuge and the Richmond National Battlefield Park. Chesterfield, Virginia is rapidly becoming a more and more prestigious name in the state's list of counties and cities. The area hosts a great deal for locals and tourists alike to do, as well as definable economic prosperity and comfortable neighborhoods and homes. Chesterfield , with its beautiful views and wealth of opportunities, provides a tidy home for newcomers around the nation.
