Clermont is nestled among the thousands of lakes that make up central Florida. It’s approximately 22 miles west of Orlando and major theme parks and has experienced explosive growth rates over the past decade. Contemporary, Mediterranean-style homes make up much of the housing market, and prices remain competitive.
Clermont is known for the Florida Citrus Tower, which was once used as a place for visitors to look out onto the sprawling orange groves. Today, those groves are covered with homes. Central Clermont is actually squished between Lake Minneola and Lake Minnehaha. This part of town is an eclectic mix of old and new homes, most of which are shaded by large oak trees and weeping willows. Heading east, buyers will find a wide range of communities filled with modern townhomes, sprawling waterfront estates and modest three-bedroom ranchers. Legends Country Club to the south is proof that Lake County’s topography is ideal for golfing, and this course is quickly being surrounded by beautifully styled houses. As a whole, Florida is regularly considered to be a buyer’s market, and Clermont is great choice for families, singles and retirees.
Clermont is also known as the Choice of Champions and is nationally ranked for its quality of life and economic development. As the orange groves were covered, new business moved in. Today, the majority of residents work in the retail, lodging and food sectors. Considering the town’s close proximity to the Disney empire, much of the local economy is tourism based. Clermont landing, in particular, brought in a slew of big box retailers and new jobs for the community. Work is still available in production and farming, but the most common occupations are found in sales, hospitality, professional services and operations management.
