Right in the heart of central Oklahoma liesEdmond, a city that has distinguished itself with many accolades, from taking the top spot on a ‘10 Perfect Suburbs’ listing to being voted the ‘Most Outstanding Community in Its Class’ by the State Chamber of Commerce for five years in a row. Its homes are equally attention-getting, from low-lying ranch styles with modern stylistic influences to three or four-story family homes with dramatic windows and architectural detailing.
Edmond is located in the Sandstone Hills region of Oklahoma, which is famous for its gently rolling landscapes and unique tree species. Plenty of affluent neighborhoods and gated communities exist within Edmond, in addition to historical districts and many newer developments. These districts boast low crime rates, numerous community centers and shared spaces, and convenient access to the school system. Arcadia, Waterloo, and Cedar Valley are just a few of these subdivisions. Over a dozen recreational spaces and public parks, in addition to a major emphasis on works of public art, set Edmond aside from other similar cities. Within the city, there are two major bodies of water. On the east side, Arcadia Lake is a major fishing spot for both Oklahoma and Edmond residents. Twin Bridges Lake is also located in Edmond.
Technology, education, government, manufacturing and industry, construction and engineering, wholesale and retail, and trade are the largest employing sectors within Edmond. These industries are represented by some of the city’s top employers, such as the Edmond Public Schools, the University of Central Oklahoma, Adfitech, Petra Industries, Remy International, Cox Communications, and the City of Edmond. LibertyFest, a well-known event that takes place in downtown Edmond, is famous for its rodeo, beauty pageant, fireworks, and kite festival, in addition to bringing visitors and jobs to the area. More than two dozen elementary, middle, and high schools serve Edmond and provide residents with thousands of teaching and administration jobs.
