If you’re looking to make a move to a prosperous city on the east coast and are willing to live on the smaller scale of a condominium, you are going to want to take a look at Falls Church, Virginia. This small independent city with a total size of only two square miles and a population of less than 14,000 is a terrific place to spread your professional wings. Condos here are mostly in large buildings, contributing to the mild downtown atmosphere, and typically run from the low to high $200,000s depending on how much space you require.

You would be hard pressed to find a city in a better economic situation than Falls Church. With an income per capita over double the national average and solid future and recent job growth numbers, it was named the richest county in the United States in 2011. Additionally, with an unemployment rate that’s only half the national figure, it also has the lowest poverty level out of all American independent cities and counties. The headquarters of Fortune 500 companies like General Dynamics, Computer Sciences Corporation and Northrup Grumman are all addressed here. There is a small public school system in place to suit the small nature of the city, with four public grade schools available for younger citizens and colleges like Georgetown University and George Mason Universities nearby should they choose to pursue that avenue.

It’s not all work and no play, however, as there’s plenty to do both within the city’s boundaries and just outside them. The State Theater is a popular local venue for live music and other performances. A short drive takes you to Fairfax County, where more cultural and historical locales await such as the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. You can also visit George Washington’s Mount Vernon estate or take a nature walk in the Great Falls or Burke Lake parks. Of course only a short way in the other direction is the international hub that is Washington, D.C. with a plethora of opportunities to enjoy a thriving nightlife scene. Music clubs, restaurants and bars abound for all tastes. There are few places you can go on the east coast of the United States that present such a diverse populous in such a small area. If you’re interested in meeting new people from all walks of life, but don’t necessarily want the always-on big city lifestyle, consider making your new home in Falls Church, Virginia.
