With a big red and white water tower welcoming guests and residents alike, Florence, Kentucky is where many people call home. Part of Boone County, Florence also makes up the southern part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. Neighborhoods and housing styles include small family homes, apartments, and condos. The different kinds of housing are mixed throughout the area. Housing values are high in this area compared to the state of Kentucky, but are still lower than the U.S. average.

The second largest city in Kentucky, Florence has plenty to do for the young married couples and families that make up most of the population. With the bustle of a big city and the laid-back lifestyle of country living, the area gives residents the best of both worlds. For those who enjoy searching out the nearest nature trails, Florence’s Nature Park is for you. Whether you want to walk the 2,800 feet of paved trails or picnic in their various grilling areas, you’ll get lost in the lush greenery of Kentucky. For those who would rather spend time playing golf, World of Golf offers an inside golfing experience for the whole family. For those who like to get their thrills on their wheels, Florence boasts a 20,000 square foot skate park for skaters and skateboarders of any age.

With just over 30,000 residents, the big city of Florence is proud of its small-town culture. In the downtown area, there is a wide array of shopping and restaurants, but most of the town partakes in community events throughout the year. Minor league baseball is a popular pastime in the summer months as many residents cheer on the Florence Freedom team. The workforce and available employment is mixed between white-collar and blue-collar jobs. Retail and sales, office work, and managerial positions make up most of the jobs in the area. With no traffic, the 20 minute drive from Florence to Cincinnati makes commuting for work possible, which opens up a great deal of employment opportunities to residents. Florence school ratings are not the best, graded 6/10 for the entire area. Parents who want something a little different have the option to go to private schools or schools in nearby Union for a small yearly tuition rate. If you’re looking for an area for your family to call home and that gives you many nearby options for education, work, and play, Florence may just the right for you.
