Alvin has a population of roughly 26,000 living within its 25.6 square miles. It is the oldest incorporated city in Brazoria County, Texas, and belongs to a larger region known as the Houston - The Woodlands - Sugarland metropolitan area, which has well over 2 million residents. Since the year 2000, the number of people living within Alvin's city limits has increased by about 17 percent.
