If you are looking to move to the largely affluent region of the Golden State known as Orange County, then the suburban commuter town of Fountain Valley, California might be just for you. For its small size of just under 10 square miles, the town packs in a large citizenry of nearly 60,000 inhabitants. Condominiums are quite popular here along with traditional houses, which typically start in the high $200,000 range. They are built to enjoy the balmy weather experienced by Californians for most of the year, with light outer colors and many windows to let in the sunshine.

At first, glance, a few of Fountain Valley’s economic numbers might be misleading. While unemployment is down a full two percentage points below the national average, the job growth remains largely consistent with the national figure. However, this is due to the fact that since this is a residential area and most residents commute to nearby cities for their work, there simply isn’t much physical room for businesses inside the town’s small borders. This is why the income per capita in Fountain Valley is nevertheless substantially higher than the average for the rest of the country. With nearly 20 grade school campuses from four different school districts serving the young students of Fountain Valley, families are not short on options for their children’s education. Furthermore, the community colleges of Coastline Community College, Orange Coast College and Golden West College are all close by.

The recreational establishments of Fountain Valley are largely built with families in mind. The Mile Square Regional Park, Fountain Bowling Alley and Fountain Valley skating center offer opportunities for fun and light exercise. The small Boomers! amusement park has activities ranging from rides to miniature golf to a video game arcade. Each year, the city also puts on a Summerfest in Mile Square Park with live music, rides, booths and a car show. Of course, when you live in Fountain Valley, you can’t go without enjoying the perks of living less than a 20 minute drive from the Pacific Ocean. You can take your family or friends down to Huntington Beach for a relaxing day in the sand and water, or get a bit more active with the surfing and paddleboarding lessons offered in the area. Regardless of whether you’re a young worker looking to spread your professional wings or a retiree wanting to settle down near the ocean, Fountain Valley, California has a place for you.
