Galveston is located on the Gulf Coast in Texas. There are many unique living opportunities in the city, complete with an abundance of historic neighborhoods and structures. The city boasts a large concentration of important late 19th-century and early 20th-century architecture, ranging from beautiful mansions to small cottages and beachfront properties. Ranch-style homes, raised waterfront homes and old Victorian-style homes make up a large portion of Galveston’s housing options. Newer options include downtown residential lofts. The sheer quantity of housing options offers something for every budget.

Located on Galveston Island on the Gulf Coast, this city offers all of the expected amenities of a coastal city. Beautiful beaches and plenty of water-related activities make Galveston a great place to live or visit. Art galleries, live music, historical landmarks and structures, great nightlife and dining, and plenty of outdoor activities ensure that there is never a lack of things to do in and around the city for its approximately 49,000 citizens and visitors alike. The Port of Galveston is a large shipping yard that handles all sorts of cargo while also acting as a cruise ship terminal for cruise ships operating in the Caribbean. One of the largest life insurance companies in the United States, American National Insurance Company, is located in Galveston, and the city is also home to many of the largest teaching hospitals in the state of Texas, including the University of Texas Medical Branch. The university alone continues to see significant growth and employs a large number of people in the city.

The Galveston ArtWalk is a popular event in the city; it takes place every six weeks on Saturdays throughout the year. Organized by the Galveston Arts Center, this event is concentrated downtown but also includes participating venues throughout the entire city. The architecture in the city, particularly late 19th century, is renowned, as are Galveston’s preservation and revitalization efforts. The Bishop’s Palace has been listed as one of most representative Victorian structures in the entire country, while the Grand 1894 Opera House still operates as a not-for-profit performing arts theater. The weather is perfect for those looking to live in a warm climate, with temperatures steadily exceeding 90 degrees in the summer and typically not dropping below 60 degrees in the winter. Great weather, rich history, housing options aplenty, endless activities and a bustling nightlife all make Galveston an enticing city in which to live.
