Garner, North Carolina is a small community of 28,000 people and is located about eight miles south of Raleigh, the state’s capital. Although Garner is a suburb of the city, it has kept its hometown atmosphere. The nine neighborhoods are safe and are primarily made up of affordable and traditional medium to large-sized homes that were built anywhere from 1970 to 2000. The diverse community has something for everyone, with a thriving business economy, many acres of parkland, quality schools, shopping, entertainment venues, and great community events.

Garner is located in the high-tech Research Triangle, and it combines the best of the old and new. Because of this, Garner is home to leaders in industry, business, research and government. It offers convenient access to numerous universities, major transportation routes, and a premier metropolitan area, but it also has had time to plan for essential services and facilities as growth continues to steadily increase. Residents are minutes away from cutting-edge technology, education, and health care. First-class universities, such as University of North Carolina, N.C. State University, and Duke University, are very close by, and traveling to domestic and international destinations is easy thanks to transportation via Amtrak and the RDU International Airport.

Garner has become a popular community for a number of reasons. The climate is temperate and there are four distinct seasons without the extreme temperature changes found in some areas of the country. In 2011, Businessweek.com ranked the area the best city in the country based on green space, school performance and cultural amenities. Also in 2011, Forbes said it was the No. 1 place for careers and business, No. 1 for young children and families, No. 2 for next boom towns in the U.S., and the No.2 place for young professionals. Being that Garner residents are extremely close to downtown Raleigh, they can visit the Convention Center, state Capitol, Progress Energy Performing Arts Center and Marbles Kids Museum in a few minutes. The beaches of North Carolina can also be reached in two to three hours, and the mountains in four. Around town, there are a number of parks where people can go to relax or get some exercise. Lake Benson Park is popular for its trails, fishing, boating, Independence Day Celebration, and other events. Another park is White Deer Park, which was designed by making minimal changes to the natural wildlife habitats and landscape of the area.
