The second largest city in Nevada, Henderson, sits at the southern end of the Las Vegas Valley. Its claims to fame include being named ‘One of the Best Cities to Live in America’ and one of the top 10 ‘Safest Cities in the United States’. The homes of Henderson fit in with the southwestern feel of the area, sporting terracotta-colored stucco and gently sloping roofs. One-story or split-level homes characterize the city, which is also home to classic American three-story houses with uniquely desert-style arches and architecture.
Henderson is divided up into a number of communities, neighborhoods, and subdivisions that are known for their safety, family-friendliness, and wholesome, outdoor-oriented atmosphere. With nearly 40 miles of trails, Henderson is considered one of the most walkable cities in the country, and families around the area utilize these trails widely for both recreation and leisure. There are a number of estate groupings and ranches that hold some of the most affluent homes in Henderson, such as Seven Hills Estates. Areas like the Montelago Village and Boutiques are beautiful, mixed-use enclaves full of unique shopping and commercial opportunities and surrounded by residential avenues.
Government, education and health services, and professional and business services dominate the economic landscape of Henderson. A few of the top employers are the City of Henderson and the St. Rose Dominican Hospital – Siena Campus, as well as the Rosa de Lima Campus. Of course, due to its close proximity to Las Vegas, tourism, leisure, and hospitality are also staples of the local economy. The Green Valley Ranch Station Casino, the Sunset Station Hotel and Casino, M Resort, and the Fiesta Henderson Casino Hotel are all tourism and leisure industries that are within the top ten employers in the region. Retail, commercial, and financial services are also major job-producers within Henderson, represented by Barclay’s Services LLC, Walmart, and Titanium Metals Corporation of America.
