LawrencevilleGeorgia sits in Gwinnet County and is a major northeast suburb ofAtlanta. Churches, civic buildings, industrial parks and single-story retail shops occupy most of the space in downtown Lawrenceville. A few neighborhoods are scattered throughout this central part of town and consist mostly of small, older craftsman and country-style homes. North Lawrenceville houses several expansive apartment and townhome communities, but much of this area is occupied by major retailers and distributors. The majority of prospective homebuyers look to the south end of the city where they find plenty of tree-lined streets and lots of room to breathe. Residents in this part of town still enjoy easy access to major highways. As a bonus, they’re close to schools, parks, trails and the Gwinnett County Fair complex. Buyers looking for larger plots of land might consider the southwest neighborhoods surrounding Trimble Mill Park. This area offers a good mix of new and seasoned subdivisions, but prices tend to be on the upper end of the scale.
Lawrenceville is only 30 miles from downtown Atlanta, but the city is large enough to sustain its own active economy. The retail sector offers the most opportunity for current jobseekers. The public schools also employee a large number of residents, as do the many hospitals and clinics within the Gwinnett County Medical System. Additionally, several major technology companies base out of the surrounding area. Scientific Atlanta was once one of the largest Fortune 500 companies in Georgia. The large telecom and cable provider is now owned by Cisco, but the original Lawrenceville campus continues to employee hundreds of local residents.
