Just west of Wilmington, across the Cape Fear and Brunswick Rivers lies the community of Leland, North Carolina. Homes north of the Andrew Jackson Highway offer historic charm and established neighborhoods. Most of the southern section of town is made up of residences and communities constructed since 2000, and growth in the area is ongoing. There is a delightful mix of stately architecture, east-coast charm and modern floor plans throughout.

Leland offers great parks and facilities for a community of its size. The Leland Municipal Park opened in 2004 and claims the honor of being the town’s first park. It’s eight acres include picnic tables, open green space, a paved path, restrooms, free wireless internet and a playground. Both Sturgeon Creek Park and Westgate Nature Park preserve local wetlands, as well as provide opportunities for outdoor recreation such as biking, hiking, kayaking, fishing and more. The Westgate Nature Park also boasts an outdoor classroom and an upcoming phase two expansion. The city offers classes and recreational opportunities for all ages.

Art and culture are major focuses of the area and community, as evidenced by The Leland Cultural Arts Center. This impressive facility offers courses in many disciplines, including painting, pottery, literary arts, dance and much more. There is also a gallery and a gift shop with original, handmade art from local craftsmen all at reasonable prices. Golf is popular in the area, and Leland boasts two scenic, championship courses. Homes on and around the courses are charming and add to the welcoming feel of the surrounding area. The big city of Wilmington is only a handful of miles away and offers big-city dining, shopping and cultural events, as well as several historical sites and museums. Leland is a great choice for a beautiful, friendly community, with a variety of housing, recreational and cultural options, as well as convenient proximity to a larger city.
