Overview

Located across the street from the village green overlooking the Ottauquechee River with uninterrupted views of Mt Tom, is one of the most charming and architecturally significant homes in Woodstock. Called the Gingerbread House, this circa 1803 two-and-half-story cape with five bedrooms and five bathrooms was remodeled in the first half of the 1900s with plans by noted architect David Adler and seemingly pays tribute to a former occupant Mr. Leet who was renowned for making gingerbread in the early 1800s. In front is a three-gable roofline with a second story porch in the center gable. Underneath is a full-width recessed porch with center entry door. In back is a third porch, half open and half interior living space, overlooking a landscaped yard lined with lilacs and owned river frontage. Sitting on the back porch the setting is private, relaxing and serene as you look across the river to the top of Mt. Tom. Along the east side of the house there is a driveway suitable for parking two cars, one in front of the other, with a side entry at the end that leads to the mudroom and kitchen. Inside the rooms are comfortable and inviting with space for family, friends and entertaining including a third floor with 5th bedroom, bathroom and study. As the personal residence of the late Georgina Williamson, this special offering is a cherished Woodstock landmark.
