The home of Brigham Young University
With a mountainside location, highly-ranked schools and convenience to popular Provo amenities, Utah residents consider Provost a prime community in Provo. The neighborhood accounts for the southeastern portion of the city, which Realtor Scott Walters of Best USA Realty calls a top spot for views of the Circle Valley. “Homes that sit closer to the mountains are on higher elevations, which makes for picturesque sights of Utah Lake on the east side of the city,” says Walters. “Provost is also just south of Brigham Young University. Students can live at home and commute a few minutes up the road, but even families without college kids are huge fans; everyone goes to the football and basketball games.”
Bring the family to the Bicentennial Boardwalk
A duckpond and boardwalk stretching over wetlands are trademarks at the 33-acre Bicentennial Boardwalk Park. Walk to the park or drive there and get your steps in on the walking trail. Mature trees provide shady spots across the open field. Kids can burn off energy on the mulched playground, which has swings for big kids and toddlers. Meanwhile, teens and adults compete on the disc golf course while dogs run off-leash in their fenced-in area. For an adventure, head into the mountains and hike or bike along Slate Canyon Trail, leading to more scenic mountain and Utah Lake views.

Spacious homes on large lots
Houses range from $400,000 to $660,000, with bungalows, townhomes and contemporary Craftsmen all part of your selection. Well-maintained townhomes built during the early 2000s include three bedrooms and three bathrooms across 2,300 square feet. Boost the budget to $450,000 to find ranch-style and split-level homes that date back to the 1940s and 1960s. These older and smaller houses cap at 1,900 square feet but sit on at least a quarter-acre. Utah homeowners can be passionate about their lawns, so space out front for assorted trees, bushes and flowers is very desirable. Additionally, fenced-in backyards give children plenty of room to play while adults relax on outdoor furniture. Contemporary Craftsmen built after 2010 include up to seven bedrooms and four bathrooms across 3,700 square feet. Though larger, these properties sit on smaller lots to accommodate increased housing demand.

Acapella performances by BYU
The Provo Covey Center for the Arts has a number of events and shows during the year. Patrons can enjoy performances by the Utah Festival Ballet and the Utah Conservatory of Performing Arts or musicals like Mary Poppins and Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol. Brigham Young University’s Noteworthy & Vocal Point also put on regular acapella concerts and the venue.
Run errands at Provo Towne Center
Run errands, leisurely browse through local favorite stores and grab a bite to eat at Provo Towne Center. This famous shopping destination sits 2 miles from residential areas but be mindful of spontaneous trips; thousands of residents from surrounding cities shop here too. Continue north along University Parkway for another 2.5 miles and arrive at the Provo Recreation Center, Utah Valley Hospital and Macey’s Grocery Store. Several local restaurants can be found in Downtown Provo. Residents love this because chain restaurants are the more common option throughout Utah. Ruby River Steakhouse is located back in Provo Towne Center and has served customers for over 20 years: chicken, seafood and ribs join steak on the menu.

Timpview is a top-rated high school
Students can attend Provost Elementary School, Centennial Middle School and Timpview High School. Provost received an overall A from Niche and 7/10 from Great Schools, Centennial got a B and 5/10, and Timpview received an A and 5/10. Locals consider Timpview the best high school in the area and often refer to it as ‘Timp.’ Additionally, Niche ranks Timpview High in Utah’s top 10 percent of college prep public high schools. Families can walk along subdivision sidewalks to Provost Elementary, but middle and high school students must carpool or ride the bus. Parents who plan to drive their children should leave early to account for traffic while passing through Brigham Young University’s campus on the way to Centennial and Timpview.
The UTA Provo Central Station is located nearby in the Outer South Provo neighborhood.
US Route 189 connects to I-15
Provost is bordered by US Route 189 to the west, which connects to Interstate 15. US Route 89 runs directly through the community, providing access to surrounding areas and amenities. Provo’s public transportation system is overseen by the Transportation and Mobility Advisory Committee.
Circle Valley sights and mountain views
With intimate mountain views and elevation that gives way to sights of Utah Lake, Provost residents would be content if these prime Circle Valley sights were all the community offered. However, the neighborhood is also surrounded by beloved schools, Downtown and Provo Towne Center, placing access to Provo’s most popular amenities in the palms of Provost neighbors.
