Do i have to wait on a pre-approved mortgage to buy a home or can i make a down payment and move in while waiting to be pre-approved?

This depends on how the property shows on the Profile Sheet from the Listing, some owners demand a pre-approval letter or they will not consider the offer; if there is no stipulation in the listing agreement then a Pre-Qualification Letter should suffice to submit an offer sale and purchase.

Your offer may not be accepted without the pre-approval. Your agent should have a few great mortgage bankers to refer you to that could give you the pre-approval in a short time frame. Good luck!

definately get preapproved first. It saves you the disapointment of finding out later that you may not be approved, and the seller, and all the professional involved as well
