You can surely contact a Realtor to have them assist you with your search. However, have you looked at Craigslist, or Apartments dot com, etc...?

If your score is 640 or better, you may not have trouble. Working with a Realtor's listing, he will run your credit. Unfortunately, with every home/unit you put in an application for, there will be a fee; you cannot take that credit report to another Realtor and re-use it. You'll be spending a lot of money going from Realtor to Realtor. FYI: When they run the credit report they also run a criminal check. See what your credit report really scores you at. Good luck!

We come across this often. It's been a hard road for those who have had difficult situations in their lives (foreclosures, job loss, short sales). I often advise those I cannot help, to go on Craig's list or drive around a neighborhood that has a generic sign (For Rent). Oftentimes, you can pay 2 month's rent in advance, plus a security. Not sure that those owners run credit checks. Just be upfront and honest and you may get lucky! Good luck!

Find a landlord who is renting on their own and NOT using a property manager or a realtor.
