Powell is a wonderful community school. Children can easily and comfortably transition from elementary to middle school here and will learn a lot from the variety of class options and great teachers. They really get you ready for high school and beyond.

Powell was a middle school that prepared me for high school and one where I had a few incredible teachers and a couple very bad ones. Academically, it's pretty decent, but socially it is not very diverse and is extremely cliquey, which is something that you may like if your are rich, outgoing and naturally "popular" but isn't great for the rest of the world. I'm sure some of this can be attributed to the fact that middle school is a rough time in general but I do wish that Powell had been more inclusive.

The lockers could use a replacement - but overall? The school is in great shape and always clean!

Largely after COVID the school's (admin's) responsibility to keep outrageous student behavior to a minimum collapsed and hasn't returned. Story after story of behavior from children and teachers a like, with no true consequences or behavioral changes, that I saw should make one flee.

This is a middle school and that age of child is not always easy to deal with, however my experience so far with Powell as a parent has been refreshing. Leadership is awful. The principal either has his head in the sand or is sorely out of touch with what goes on in the real world of today’s pre-teens and teens. He has no control over his school and the bullying is out of control.
