Slidell, Louisiana, is a city located on the northeast shore of Lake Pontchartrain and St. Tammany Parish. The city is part of St. Tammany Parish, which is an administration division that is shared by several counties. The parish is also known as either "Northshore" or "North Shore," and is considered the most affluent in the state and the most politically conservative in the New Orleans region. As a suburb of New Orleans, the city has a population of around 27,000 and has a total area of 15 square miles. Quaint and small, Slidell has mostly single family residences.

Some things to do in Slidell include visiting the Olde Towne Slidell Main Street, whose historic preservation is part of a great economic development effort. There is a wide variety of shops and services, along with renovated historical homes. The Slidell Museum, which was formerly a town hall and the mayor’s office, holds artifacts and features the former marshal’s office and jail cells.
