The price range for real estate in Texas City, TX is so broad that any homebuyer can find his or her perfect abode within budget. Variety is the spice of life when it comes to the actual properties as well. Homebuyers have an unlimited choice of home and lot sizes when perusing real estate in this Galveston County city and most are already landscaped with beautiful sprawling green lawns and trees. It is no wonder why over 45,000 people call Texas City home.

Nestled on the Gulf Coast’s Galveston Bay, Texas City’s location is what has defined it. Development of the area began in 1893 by three duck hunters from Duluth, Minnesota who saw its potential as a major port. Shipping and industry became Texas City’s bread and butter, with a major emphasis on petroleum refining and petrochemical manufacturing. It seems as if the duck hunters were correct in their vision, because today the Port of Texas City, TX is the ninth leading port in the States and is part of the Panama Canal Expansion Project scheduled for completion by 2016. Residents also find work in healthcare and tourism, two employment sectors the city planners have focused on to boost the economy.

Don’t let all the industry fool you, however. This isn’t a brown and dreary location. Residents find appealing oases throughout their hometown, which has many parks, natural preserves and wetlands. The Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail runs right through Texas City, and the city’s Prairie Preserve is 2,300 acres of terrain set along Moses Lake. Residents stroll along the boardwalks throughout the marshes enjoying the beauty of nature and the wildlife. There are also parks located throughout the city, including the 45-acre Bay Street Park and the 55-acre Nessler Park, which hosts the annual Music Fest by the Bay event. Students are educated by the numerous public schools and one private school within the area, and the College of the Mainland provides graduates their jumpstart toward their degrees. The Moore Memorial Public Library is 21,000 square feet of books and research materials for all residents, and additional history can be studied at the Texas City Museum, which is located in the former J.C. Penney Co. building. Industry made this town, and its residents maintain it. Texas City, TX is a charming coastal haven that you will be proud to call home.
