Powderly, a neighborhood in Birmingham, was first developed in 1887 and has grown into a family-oriented and senior-friendly community. It's a few miles to spots like Hamburger Heaven and Red Pearl Restaurant. Though the neighborhood is generally quiet, the occasional train whistle can be heard from trains passing nearby. Amtrak boarding is at the downtown Birmingham station, about 6 miles away.
