Brunswick is a city of nearly 16,000, located on the coast of Georgia. It located in Glynn County and is the major economic center of Southeastern Georgia. Homes located near the beach sell for substantially higher prices.
Brunswick was first incorporated as a city in 1856. It is located approximately halfway between Jacksonville, FL and Savannah, GA. It is notable for its ocean views and salt marshes that surround the outskirts of the city. It has a tropical climate, and it is understood to be one of the most productive ports on the Eastern seaboard. Aside from its beautiful setting and convenient location, this city’s economy is steadily rising. Affordable housing is very easy to find here, and it is one of the few large cities in America where housing prices have not significantly risen.
The entire area of the city is approximately 25 square miles, and a substantial amount of this area is covered by water. The Port of Brunswick is a major economic influence on the area, and it is currently the sixth busiest automobile port in the United States. The Southeast Georgia Healthcare System is the largest employer in the area, followed by numerous paper mills and seafood production companies. Brunswick is also home to the College of Coastal Georgia, a four-year, state-funded institution. The Glynn County School System serves the population of Brunswick and much of the surrounding area. The town is also home to many artistic and cultural venues, including a state-renowned orchestra. The Ritz Theatre is a theater, and notable landmark within Brunswick’s historic arts district. For art and photography lovers, there are currently several small art galleries located in the exact same geographic area.
