With a population of 60,000 and just a half hour commute to Little Rock, Conway, Arkansas offers an ideal mix of small town living and big city amenities. Being home to three post-secondary institutions, Conway’s nickname is "The City of Colleges." From the historic downtown district to the eclectic campus areas, and from the newer homes on the outer fringes of the city to the prestigious southeast suburbs, Conway offers a diverse mix of neighborhoods, as well as some of the most affordable real estate in the nation, as evidenced by its being named the "14th Cheapest City in the U.S." by Forbes magazine in 2011.

Downtown Conway has two main districts, East Conway and West Conway, divided along Donaghey Avenue. They are both historic districts, containing some of the oldest and most interesting architecture in the city. Here you’ll find the Asa P. Robinson neighborhood, named for the city’s founder, and the Hendrix Addition. Old southern mansions and high-rise apartments share these charming urban spaces, along with restaurants, shops, and galleries, all within walking distance of each other. Or you may want to cycle, as the League of American Bicyclists named Conway a "Bicycle Friendly Community" in 2011. Since 2000, Conway has invested millions of dollars in revitalizing its downtown, creating prime business and office space in addition to fine retail shops and trendy restaurants. This has earned Conway awards like being one of "40 Strongest Metro Economies" from Bloomberg Businessweek in 2012 and "14th Best City for Young Professionals" from Forbes Magazine in 2011.

The West Side is where you’ll find most of the college housing, but like many Conway neighborhoods, it contains a mix of residences. Here you will find the Museum Road neighborhood, which consists of single-family homes, college apartments, and high rise condos. As you venture into the suburbs, you’ll still find a variety of housing, but with a greater concentration of single-family residences. Conway’s northern, northwest, and eastern suburbs, such as Beaverfork Road, Gleason, and Hamlet consist primarily of middle class homes. The majority of these are ramblers built before 1970, lying on nice-sized lots with established lawns and mature hardwood trees. Much of Conway’s newer housing lies south of the city, in neighborhoods around Old Military Road, Round Mountain Road, and the Brumley-Preston area, where many of the homes were built after 2000. For the newest, biggest and most prestigious homes, you will have to travel southeast of the city to neighborhoods near scenic Lake Conway, the largest man-made lake in the United States, and a popular recreational destination for people from around Arkansas. With its warm climate, humble cost of living, and an economy attractive to college students, young professionals, and retirees alike, Conway has much to offer.
