Bus service in the township, which is home to about 36,000 residents, is provided by New Jersey Transit. The closest train stations are in Aberdeen-Matawan, Belmar, Long Branch and Princeton. One of the many points of interest in Freehold is the Maplewood Cemetery. The burial ground was established in the late 1800s, and it is the final resting place for many notable New Jersey politicians. Joseph D. Bedle and Joel Parker, both former governors of the Garden State in the 1800s, are both buried in Maplewood Cemetery. Shoppers will be happy to know that the township’s Freehold Raceway Mall is the second largest mall in the state. The mall houses Diane & Co., a dress shop that is featured on the cable show Jersey Couture. Opened in 1990, the mall offers 225 stores and services including 5 anchor stores.
