Autumndale is a small community on the northern edge of Mobile, Alabama with fewer than 250 homes. The area features Minimal Traditional ranch-style residences that are characterized by large picture windows and carports. Many houses come with backyard patios and small gardens, and lot sizes are typically between a quarter and a half acre. Residents go grocery shopping at Piggly Wiggly down the road, while Ranch Seafood sells live crawfish across the street. Mary’s Southern Cooking serves home-cooked soul food in a cafeteria-style setting, and other local restaurants include Love’s Seafood and Hart’s Fried Chicken. The Crichton Shopping Center has a Greer’s CashSaver, a Family Dollar and a handful of convenience stores, plus Mobile’s main retail center is 3 miles away along Airport Boulevard. Three Mile Creek’s greenway trail passes through the neighborhood and connects to the Japanese Gardens in the 720-acre Langan Park. Outdoor enthusiasts can also go jogging on the walking trail or play at one of the tennis or disc golf courts. The Mobile Museum of Art is also close by. Downtown Mobile is 10 miles away, and Interstate 65 and U.S. Route 98 intersect directly east and run throughout the city. A new international airport is under construction and is slated to open by 2026.
