Pine Bluff, Arkansas, located about 45 miles south of Little Rock, is a city working to overcome economic challenges and a declining population. The city has seen significant efforts to revitalize its downtown area, including the creation of the Delta Rhythm & Bayous Cultural District, which will feature an outdoor plaza, blues memorial, and the nation’s first park honoring the Chitlin’ Circuit. Recreational opportunities abound with Lake Saracen, the Arkansas River, and Jefferson County Regional Park offering fishing, boating, and trails. The Delta Rivers Nature Center provides additional outdoor activities and educational exhibits. Pine Bluff also boasts the Arkansas Railroad Museum and the Saracen Casino Resort, with a new hotel and event center slated to open in 2025. The housing market features mostly smaller, older homes, with midcentury ranch-style houses available in more spacious, wooded areas. The city experiences a temperate climate with all four seasons. Shopping and dining are concentrated along 28th Avenue, with plans for a food truck park in the cultural district. Pine Bluff is accessible via Interstate 530, connecting it to Little Rock and the Clinton National Airport.
