Quality construction by Homer contractors/carpenters. The main home was significantly remodeled in 2017 by the current owners (including the addition of an arctic entry) and the guest cabin and detached garage were newly constructed in 2009/2010.

The main home is built on sono tubes and the guest cabin and garage on steel pilings to minimize the impact of development on the wetlands environment. The property consists of two parcels with the lot bordering Beluga Lake (Lot 25) restricted from development.

From the owners:

We have very much enjoyed living at 1241 Iris Court. We especially like the views out over the water and the mountains around Kachemak Bay. It is a special place to live. Many years a cow moose births a calf between our home and the lake. The tree swallows, which appeared in great numbers this year, are a joy to watch. They swoop and then abruptly change course. The birds perform their duties admirably eating insects so much that we've never had problems with insect bites. There are five nest boxes on the property and most years they are fully occupied until the day after the young birds fledge, then they're gone forever. The sandhill cranes also arrive each year.

Another aspect of life here: quiet. Yes, there is some float plane traffic during the day, and then at all other times, especially at night, it is very quiet. We have privacy and sleep well. We think it's easy to say that if you are lucky enough to get this place, you won't regret it. Best wishes!
