About 1634 Milvia
A spacious and sunny three-bedroom and one-bathroom apartment located on the first floor of a seismically retrofitted three-story building with its own private patio that is in the Gourmet Ghetto. The building is quiet and peaceful which consistently attracts graduate students with an average four-year tenancy. Around the corner, you are surrounded by the stores and restaurants of the Gourmet Ghetto, and it is about a 15-minute walk to campus and BART. A parking space and two months of free Wi-Fi with your own router (up to 1 gbps up/downstream, net neutral provider, and no data caps) along with water and garbage/recycling are included with rent.
The building has an app-operated laundry room on site (no coins). Abloy lock system on the door and in the building – highest security lock system, meaning no duplicate keys exist and one key to access the unit, mailbox, and common areas. Prior tenants do not have access to your unit. Very few buildings in Berkeley, if any, feature this lock system.
This building is one of the first to be fully compliant with Berkeley Soft Story Code completed 2009, E3 program completed in 2016 designed to prevent a balcony collapse, and Berkeley Rental Housing Safety Inspection completed and compliant in 2023. No red tags received for the building ever.
The unit is a true three-bedroom, meaning that every room has a closet. There are also two common area closets for extra storage. Each bedroom is large enough to accommodate up to a king size bed with a small desk and dresser. The kitchen has a dining area, and there is a private enclosed balcony.
The unit was completely renovated August 2022 with the following:
· Brand new composite flooring throughout the entire unit that costs more than hardwood flooring and is waterproof and almost indestructible

The application fee is $50 and co-signor application fee is $30. PhD students with funding do not need a co-signor. The security deposit is one month’s rent and no first or last month rent required.
The unit will be available August 1 for a one year lease. No smoking and no pets allowed. These are not negotiable. This helps to ensure a more peaceful and tranquil environment, minimizing disturbances to other units and tenants.
