Cabin water
A waterfall about 1/4 mile to the west up a hill supplies fresh water to a group of cabins in a collective water arrangement. A 5 gallon plastic bucket with a screen on top and a bucket screen inside, that is tied off to the waterfall face via ropes and pullies, feed a 3/4 pvc tubing that runs downhill along a trail. This then feeds by gravity our (6) 50 gallon plastic tanks (300 gallon total) sitting on an all weather wood platform. About an 1/8 of a mile west of our cabin on the hill. This then feeds another 3/4 inch line that continues down the hill and across the beach to our cabin by gravity and fills a 20 gallon storage tank inside our cabin after going through a filter under our deck. The storage tank has a 12v RV type pump that feeds a pressure tank. There is an AquaStar instant tankless propane water heater. The system can then run on 12v independently or on 110v through the inverter. The 300 gallon holding tanks always feed the 20 gallon storage tank. There is a 100 gallon overflow tank below the outside deck. The cabin water pressure is equal to a normal residential setup. Instant hot water with indoor plumbing. The septic system is a crib style with a 6x12x4 treated wood structure with leechfield.
Cabin Electrical
Northern Lights Lugger diesel 6kW generator provides instant electric power when on. It charges (4) 6 volt batteries in series through a Xantrex Prosine 2.0 inverter/charger. The (4) batteries are Interstate 903-L deep cycle flooded recently installed June 2025 with 420 AH@20 hours. 350 Min@25 Amps each. They are also supplied power from (4) 120 Amp solar panels through a Xantrex solar charger controller. We have several lights that are 12 volt. Bed nightstand, generator closet etc. The diesel generator has a remote start function from the cabin with a green reminder light above the electrical closet. There is a 120v breaker panel and a marine battery on/off switch to shut the system off.
