In 1792 the Connecticut Legislature awarded land to citizens whose towns had been damaged by fire by the British Troops during the American Revolution. Permanent settlement in the Firelands Area began in 1808 and grew rapidly after the conclusion of The War of 1812. In 1817 the original part of this home was built. Then in 1835 an addition was added and again in 1955 another addition and extensive remodeling was undertaken. This five bedroom, four full bath home is situated on 5.7 acres of land. It exhibits a lifestyle of yesteryear; high ceilings, large rooms, wood floors and six wood-burning fireplaces. Many of the windows have been replaced.
