Sun Prairie’s motto, “Revolves Around You,” encourages residents of Madison’s largest suburb to think of themselves as the center of the community they’re creating. Nowhere is this sentiment more keenly illustrated than in Central Sun Prairie. The neighborhood beats in the heart of the city, a mixture of residential streets and commerce occupying a wedge of land between U.S. Route 151 and Main Street. “You have access to the new and old downtown and Route 151,” says Michael Schuster, Realtor with Re/Max. “The traditional downtown of Sun Prairie would be towards Main Street, and the new section would be that big commercial strip on the other end of town.” With a blend of apartment buildings, condos and single-family homes dating to the 1960s and ’70s, Central Sun Prairie’s population is nearly evenly split between renters and homeowners.
