Bear gets its name from a tavern that had a sign depicting a large bear. Formerly known as an agricultural town, Bear is now considered more developed, with increasing numbers of retail centers. Family-oriented entertainment is what Bear is about. People can partake in the Go Ape Treetop Adventure course for an interesting and exciting day of outdoor fun. Lums Pond State Park offers camping, sports, hiking, fishing, and climbing around the largest freshwater pond in Delaware. Beck's Pond Park is a bit more relaxed, with its gazebo, picnic tables, grills, pond, and playground. The Delaware Rock Gym offers indoor climbing opportunities while the Hullabaloo Amusement Center offers arcade fun Mansion House Paintball lets families, friends, groups, and parties engage in paintball or woodsball.
