There is no shortage of special events and festivals throughout the year of Crown Point, which has a population of about 28,000 residents. One of the city's biggest events is the Lake County Fair, the 2nd largest fair in the state that takes place every August for 10 days. People flock to the fair to enjoy monster trucks and a demolition derby. Another highlight of the fair is an arena in the area that is used for horse shows. There are many food festivals in the city including The Corn Roast and the Taste of Crown Point; both events take place in the downtown area around the courthouse. Another popular event is the Foodstock Benefit Concert; the annual May concert is organized by Crown Point High School Students and features a variety of musical styles performed by both students and faculty members. Funds raised benefits the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana. The city also offers parades on St. Patrick's Day, Memorial Day and Independence Day.
