Why Live in Parker
Parker, a suburban community, carries a lot of convenience. It sits near Interstate 20, and though it is an Atlanta neighborhood, it is closer to Decatur’s shopping and dining options than to Downtown Atlanta. Several green spaces are also close by. For some, the neighborhood can be seen as a bargain. “People can find something cost-effective here while still being five minutes from a lot of things,” says Casey Dellinger, a Realtor with Bolst Inc. Ranch-style homes often range from $200,000 to $415,000. Recently built townhomes, mostly found in cul-de-sacs off Flat Shoals Road, can go from $210,000 to $350,000. Larger farmhouses and Craftsman-style homes can sell for between $430,000 and $700,000. “You can save between $250,000 and $500,000 here compared with the city of Decatur,” Dellinger says. “And it’s still a short drive or bike ride away.” Roads are surrounded by tall oak and pine trees. Front lawns often feature bushes or smaller trees. Students are served by DeKalb County Schools. They can attend Ronald E. McNair Discover Learning Academy, an elementary school that holds a C-minus Niche grade. The school often brings in “McNair Subject Matter Experts,” or renowned members
