Inside the crook of an interchange where Routes 290 and 183 meet, the LBJ neighborhood takes its name from the 36th president of the United States and, more directly, from the high school located within it. Situated on the northeastern outskirts of Austin, the western half of LBJ is largely residential. A pair of schools, an industrial park and the Big Walnut Creek Nature Preserve are interlaced with the subdivisions on the west side, while the eastern half is almost entirely undeveloped, save for the North Point community. “LBJ is very central to Austin and one of the more affordable neighborhoods,” says Sunetra “Sunny” Sutherland, a Realtor with Allure Real Estate. “It’s kind of a vibrant community and has access to public transportation and proximity to the airport.
