The Rogers Hill neighborhood typically doesn’t top a homebuyer's list when looking for a place to settle down in the Lone Star State capital. But this growing community east of U.S. 183 is on the rise. Along with a new development project that will build thousands of homes as well as retail and office space in the neighborhood, the nearby park on Walter E. Long Lake is slated for major upgrades. “I’ve had my eye on the neighborhood ever since I moved to Austin 13 years ago,” says John Doucette, a Realtor with Keller Williams Luxury Homes, who lives in one of the trendiest subdivisions in the neighborhood, Agave. “A lot of people buy out here before they have kids or right when they have kids. It’s been a great investment for people; better-priced homes, and they’re upscale.” Doucette adds that highway access makes it easy to reach destinations across the city, including the airport. “You’re basically 15 minutes from everything.” A diverse community stretching nearly 4 miles north-to-south, Rogers Hill is home to several farms, the Austin Hindu Temple and Community First! Village. The village is a master-planned community for people formerly experiencing homelessness. The
