Calling all soccer fans! The Meadows is a quaint residential community located near The Criss Quin Soccer Complex and Gulf Terrace Park in Beaumont’s West End. The area has an assortment of condos, townhouses, apartments and single-family homes.
Architectural styles common in the area are ranch-style brick homes and farmhouses primarily built in the 1970s or later. The neighborhood is lined with sidewalks connecting homes, trimmed hedges and bushes, and lush, flowering trees in the front lawn. Homes feature garages, patios, pools and gardens.
The Meadows is in the region's largest public school system, with the neighborhood's Marshall Middle and Westbrook High School specializing in Career and Technical Education (CTE) and STEM programs. On the Westbrook High School campus, there are baseball fields and a football field with stadium seating.
Rogers Park Community Center is directly in the community and has a playground, splash zone, tennis courts and a basketball court. Residents can rent out the building for any parties or events they are hosting. Gulf Terrace Park has an almost 4-mile cement walking trail and pond. The trail is perfect for cyclists, runners, walkers and dogs on leashes. Located in Klein Park is The Criss Quin Soccer Complex, which hosts several youth-league soccer teams and is available to rent. The center is also home to Beaumont Youth Soccer Club, a nonprofit youth soccer club dedicated to teaching soccer to kids across the city.
There is an abundance of local businesses and restaurants to enjoy in The Meadows. The Oaks Shopping Mall is a strip mall home to World Gym, which is open 24 hours, and several other stores — including the comic book store Comic Kingdom. Painting With a Twist is also in the mall and hosts weekly events, inviting people to create artwork while sipping wine. Amelia Farm and Market is a family-owned farm on a 100-year-old pecan orchard. The farm began in 1916 and used to be a restaurant but is now being promoted as a large event venue. The Bayou Café is one of the finest New Orleans-style restaurants in the area. For those seeking fun, there is B&B Arcade and Cotton Creek Winery, offering weekly wine tastings. Additionally, Thirsty’s is a bar in the area where locals can grab a drink and unwind. Martharitaville is a locally owned restaurant ideal for those looking for food, games and drinks. With all the fun in one place, residents have called it the best outdoor bar and grill in Beaumont. Additionally, City Dance Center offers ballet, tap, and jazz classes for toddlers to teenagers.
Residents generally commute by car, but there is public transportation available through Beaumont Municipal Transit. There are multiple stops in the Beaumont ZIP bus network in this area.
The Rodgers Park Community Center hosts Beaumont Oktoberfest every October. Residents enjoy polka and other live music, food trucks and a beer garden offering German Oktoberfest-style beers.
Due to its Gulf Coast location, tropical storms and hurricanes are common, and residents should be prepared for hurricane season June 1 through November 30.
