Why Live in Puget

Puget, a neighborhood in Bellingham’s central region, is less than 2 miles from downtown. The western region of Puget is where commercial and residential areas intersect. It features many hotels, apartment buildings and fast-casual restaurants. Whole Foods and Fred Meyer are prominent grocery stores in the area. The eastern region has single-family homes on winding streets and offers a quieter environment that is away from the highway noise. Architectural styles vary from minimalist ranch-style homes and bungalows to 1990s New Traditional homes. Some houses have views of Sehome Hill. The neighborhood is bike-friendly, and many residents can walk to nearby grocery stores. Puget is home to the Civic Athletic Complex, which includes an indoor ice rink and the Arne Hanna Aquatic Center. The Samish Crest Trail and Whatcom Falls Park provide scenic walking and hiking options. Carl Cozier Elementary, Kulshan Middle and the highly rated Sehome High schools serve the area. Whatcom Transportation Authority bus routes run through Puget. Interstate 5 connects the area to the Canadian border and Seattle. The Bellingham International Airport and the PeaceHealth Saint Joseph Medical Center are within a short drive of the neighborhood.
