Why Live in Old Bend
Old Bend is a historic neighborhood along the Deschutes River, adjacent to downtown entertainment and Oregon forest land. Known for its outdoor lifestyle, the neighborhood also has a rich history as a timber manufacturing hub, much of which is on display at the Deschutes Historical Museum. Residents enjoy a mix of early 20th-century Craftsman-style bungalows, cottages and Colonial Revivals on Mirror Pond. Drake Park is a green space with fishing in Mirror Pond and public art displays. It has access to the Deschutes River Trail, which connects to downtown Bend and other nearby neighborhoods. Miller's Landing Park features a community garden and scenic river views. Dining options include restaurants, such as Jackson's Corner, which serves farm-to-table meals. Bos Taurus has steak dinners. Just a short distance away, the Old Mill District features shopping boutiques and entertainment venues. The Bend Film Festival and the July 4th Pet Parade are notable events. Residents can use the Cascades East Transit bus system or take bike-friendly routes to get around. The area has a planned pedestrian bridge over U.S. Highway 97. The Redmond Municipal Airport is about 17 miles away.
