"People just don't sell their houses there," says Austin Muth, co-founding Realtor of Genesis Realty. "People live their whole lives in those homes, so most of them already know each other." Yet even though neighbors are tight-knit, the community still welcomes change. "My cousin was able to buy a home there, and when he moved in, the neighbors threw a block party so they could all get to know him," Muth says. Additionally, new construction opens more opportunities for people to enjoy the neighborhood's peaceful atmosphere while remaining near commercial centers, major roads and schools. The neighborhood's CAP Index Crime Score is 1 out of 10, significantly lower than the national score of 4. Custom homes from the 1970s and 1980s give Country West its character. "It has a very old-school vibe," Muth says. "They just don't make homes like those anymore. Even high-end houses in other parts of the city just aren't made the same."
