Yorktown is a Bowie neighborhood with midcentury homes, shady sidewalks and a namesake elementary school. The neighborhood is shaded by mature white oak trees and has winding, sidewalk-lined roads. Chesapeake Bay beaches, including Sandy Point State Park, are less than 30 miles east. Shopping can be done along Annapolis Road and the popular Bowie Town Center, which has a collection of over 70 stores. Yorktown is a car-dependent community with U.S. Route 50 connecting to D.C. and Baltimore. Locals can also take commuter trains from the Bowie State University MARC station. Schools in the area include Yorktown Elementary, Samuel Ogle Middle, and Bowie High, all within walking distance and part of Prince George’s County Public Schools. Bowie State University, less than 3 miles north, offers a range of undergraduate programs.
