Why Live in Cedar Mountain
Known as the gateway to DuPont State Recreational Forest, Cedar Mountain is a small community near some of Western North Carolina’s most popular recreation areas. “When I was a kid, Cedar Mountain was more rural with a few rental mountain cabins, and now it’s definitely changed a lot, but in a good way,” says Susan Campbell, a Realtor and broker with Allen Tate/Beverly Hanks who’s sold homes here since 2017. “Cedar Mountain has exploded in the last couple of years. It’s a small town with a couple of good restaurants and a wonderful market. There is a distillery there now, and so there's a lot of music.” The area’s businesses are centered around the road leading into the forest, and this has become a gathering place for locals and people stopping through on their way to DuPont’s trails and waterfalls. Cedar Mountain’s dense forest comes right up to the houses, which are mostly ranch-style homes, manufactured houses and cabins with large porches to take in the scenery. “As far as our buyers are concerned, the majority are coming in from other places,” Campbell says. “Those buyers are looking for the quintessential mountain home with views or a water feature.” Houses on 1 to 3 acres
