Why Live in Town Commons
Town Commons is a mostly residential neighborhood in the heart of the Brunswick Peninsula. The neighborhood draws attention for its century-old, comparatively low-priced homes. "A lot of younger folks are flocking there because of the prices," says local Realtor Will Duckworth of Duckworth Properties. This younger crowd is also drawn to the area because Old Town Brunswick's lively restaurants and shops are only a few blocks away toward the East River, while to the northeast is the College of Coastal Georgia and Brunswick's primary hospital, Southeast Georgia Health System-Brunswick. Town Commons is laid out on narrow streets branching off Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Altama Avenue. It’s heavily wooded with moss-draped, aged oaks and towering pines. While sidewalks aren't on every street, residents are often out walking and riding bikes. Most of the homes are cottages and bungalows, many dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. There are also a few mid-century, ranch-style homes. Houses typically measure under 1,500 square feet and have two or three bedrooms. New construction is minimal, but a few new builds are along and near Gloucester Street. Several of the
