Why Live in Bushland
Bushland is more than a historic stop on Route 66. About 8 miles west of Amarillo, it has evolved into a growing residential area with custom-built Craftsman-style homes on at least an acre of land. The Bushland Independent School District, which includes Bushland Elementary, Bushland Junior High, and Bushland High School, is highly rated and attracts many families to the area.
Bushland lacks city or county-operated parks, but residents enjoy ample private outdoor space. For recreational activities, Medical Center Park in Amarillo is about a 10-mile drive away and features walking trails, a man-made lake, the Amarillo Botanical Gardens, and the Don Harrington Discovery Center. Local amenities include essentials like Dollar General, Bushland Drug Store, Mitch’s Texas Style Barbecue and Bushland Coffee Company. For more extensive shopping and entertainment, residents travel less than 10 miles to Amarillo's Westgate Mall, Target, Sam’s Club and Home Depot.
Bushland's proximity to Interstate 40 makes for easy commutes to Amarillo, where attractions like Cadillac Ranch, the Amarillo Sod Poodles baseball team, and the Amarillo Symphony are located.
