Why Live in New Empire
New Empire lies in an area that played an important role in the country’s historic silver rush. The neighborhood is a successor to Empire City, an old town that acted as a processing hub for the mined rocks of the silver-rich Comstock Lode. The community remembers its history through institutions like the neighborhood’s Empire Elementary School and the Empire Ranch Golf Course, which still has the 1860s red Colonial-style home of Empire City’s founder. Today, the area houses a diverse community on the edge of the Carson City Airport.“You can watch the small airplanes take off every day. A lot of people do,” says Steven Segal, assistant manager of New Empire’s Comstock Mobile Village. “It’s a very safe neighborhood, very peaceful, very quiet. It’s close to the city as far as downtown, but it’s far enough to where it’s off the beaten path.” As shown by parks like the Comstock Mobile Village, New Empire has communities and pockets of manufactured homes. The Comstock property, in particular, is a 55-plus community with amenities like a year-round sauna, a billiards and card room and a seasonal pool. “We have a lot of community events. We have a great social committee. We do bingo.
