Central Station started as a warehouse district before 1990, but recent redevelopment has turned it into a modern residential area full of sleek high-rises and shopping destinations. Chicago Public Schools
Central Station students are taught by Chicago Public Schools, with many starting at South Loop Elementary School from prekindergarten through eighth grade, which receives a B-plus rating on Niche. Pekarsky says it is “one of the best elementary schools in the city.” The C-minus rated Wendell Phillips Academy High School is the students' next and final stop. Walking and relaxing in downtown Chicago
Central Station offers plenty of parks in the city’s center for locals, such as Mark Twain Park, a modest 2.5-acre space ideal for enjoying a stroll around the perimeter path or letting the kids run wild on the playground. South Michigan Avenue and East Roosevelt Road are the main thoroughfares for the neighborhood, offering access to the rest of the area and South Lakeshore Drive, one of the major roads of Chicago.
