A mega shopping destination nearby
Just south of the nearly 200-store shopping mecca that Is Polaris Fashion Place, the Worthington Crossing neighborhood provides a mix of single-family homes and condos in a desirable location and within one of the best school districts in the Columbus area. “The area has grown so much over the past few years,” says Maya Joshi, a Realtor with Red One Realty. “The main driver of that growth is the mall and the stores around it, and it’s just going to get more attractive in the coming years with Intel moving in.” With two computer chip factories opening in 2025, only a 20-minute drive, Intel is bringing thousands of jobs.

Development and growth in the last 20 years
Thanks to the opening of Polaris Fashion Place in 2001, plans for businesses and housing followed in this area, which is about 15 miles north of downtown Columbus along Interstate 71. Saks Fifth Avenue and Macy’s are two anchor stores. Now, another potential growth spurt is coming. “You have to look to the future. With the thousands of Intel employees potentially moving to the area, the shopping and the schools will bring them here and access to the interstates,” Joshi says.
Single-family home or condo
Along Worthington Crossing Drive, single-family homes that are mainly two-story modern contemporary, along with colonial with three to four bedrooms, a two-car attached garage and between 1,500 and 3,000 square feet of living space are lined up with little distance between one property and another. The price range is between $350,000 and $500,000. Condos are also prominent, mainly on the north and west sides of the neighborhood. Some condos were built in the early 1990s, priced between $200,000 and $250,000, with two to three bedrooms, and some have a one-car detached garage. The Traditions at Polaris condo development was built in the mid-2000s with the shared-wall units worth about $300,000.

Recreation options outside and inside
Amid the housing in Worthington Crossing, there’s lots of green space and an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors at Lazelle Woods Park, with an entrance and a large parking area off Lazelle Road. A one-mile walking and jogging trail circles the park, along with a playground, athletic fields and a picnic area. There’s also a 10-acre nature preserve at the park's southern end. The Lazelle Woods Community Center has a gym for indoor basketball or volleyball, and various classes are held in the facility's fitness room and meeting rooms.
Top ten school district
Scoring high marks in academics, the quality of teachers and college preparation, the Worthington City School District is rated an A-minus overall on Niche. It’s ranked the seventh-best school district in the Columbus metro out of 27. With a 15-to-1 student-teacher ratio and a B-plus grade overall, Worthington Park Elementary School, with a B-plus Niche grade, makes a weekly newsletter available on the school’s website for students and parents. Worthingway Middle School serves about 650 students in grades six through eight and has a B-plus overall Niche grade. Thomas Worthington High School was built in 1952 and is undergoing renovations, which should be complete by 2026. The school receives an A-minus overall grade.

Convenient to bus line and I-71
Several bus stops for the Central Ohio Transit Authority, or COTA, are along Sancus Boulevard, which heads to Polaris Fashion Park to the north, as well as the McCoy Center, including the Chase Bank facility southwest of the mall, which is equal in square footage to the Empire State Building and employs 13,000 people. Interstate 71 is just to the east and is just under 20 minutes to get to downtown Columbus.
More options for a dinner out
While there are more restaurant choices further north toward Polaris Fashion Park, people living in Worthington Crossing have restaurants within the neighborhood, like Tula Taqueria, with authentic Mexican street tacos with a choice of protein along with other staples. It’s located within the Lazelle Road II Shopping Center. O’Bryan’s on Sancus has live music on Thursday nights and a DJ spinning dance music on Saturday nights. Grocery shopping opportunities are near Polaris Fashion Park, such as Kroger and Costco.
