University Park in Dayton is a vibrant neighborhood primarily inhabited by University of Dayton (UD) students. The university owns a substantial portion of the housing stock, comprising apartments and multifamily homes. Some of the privately owned single-family homes, including Victorians and Craftsmans, are in the Rubicon and Fairgrounds communities. The University of Dayton RecPlex is open to the public by membership or day pass. It features a fitness center, gym and courts for racquetball, volleyball and basketball. Carillon Brewing Company is unique for its historical brewing techniques, and staff members dressed in 19th-century-style clothing. Downtown Dayton and the Oregon District, a commercial hub of locally owned businesses, are within 2 miles. The area is walkable, bikeable and has bus stops for the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (RTA).
