Why Live in Hemlock Park

Near the northern edge of Dearborn, Hemlock Park has long been one of the city’s main development centers, starting with homebuilding in the 1920s that continues more than a century later. Thriving business scenes embrace Warren Avenue to the north and Schaefer Road to the west, while Hemlock Park’s namesake green space expands its amenities. Easy access to health care and employment opportunities also help Hemlock Park stand out among its neighbors. Hemlock Park’s housing stock was originally developed to keep up with a growing population of autoworkers during the first half of the 20th century. Since then, some homes were built as late as the mid-2000s. A mixture of brick cottages, Dutch Colonials and bungalows, many recently renovated, imbuing the neighborhood with a vintage vibe. The average street is shaded by curbside trees next to sidewalks, small front lawns and passages to rear driveways. Homes from the 1920s to ’40s tend to sell for $150,000 to $350,000, while those built since the 1970s have sold for $445,000 to $475,000. “Dearborn is very popular for its food. We have around 600 restaurants and 50 cafes," says Victor Fawaz, a Realtor with Re/Max Team 2000 with
